1967 JEEP VIN DECODER SERIAL
The last six digits of a VIN reveal the vehicle’s regular production options (RPO) and is also commonly referred to as its serial number. What the Last Six Digits of a VIN Really Tells Us
This is because no VIN decoder on the market could make sense of those final six. These have a large impact on valuation accuracy, but are typically missed. Yet the last six have details like trim and options.
Details such as country of production, manufacturer, year, and model are extracted from these first 11. A VIN has 17 characters, but only the first 11 are usually used to help identify vehicle information. This DSO is often (incorrectly) refered to as the “District Sales Office” as well. For decades, the vehicle identification number (VIN) has been used by insurers and repair shops to identify specific vehicle information.

Also to appear in this space is the two-digit code number of the District which ordered the car. DSO stands for “Domestic Special Order”, Units built on a “Domestic Special Order”, Foreign Special order, or other special orders will have the complete order number in this space. I don’t need to explain too much about these tags as they speak for themselves, the only quick bit of information is around the DSO. The door tags changed designs over the years, however the information contained on them was the same format. In fact all the information about your car can be derived from this plate as the vehicle VIN number should be match this tag. The door tag contains lots of information around trim, colour, axle, transmission options at the time, but perhaps more importantly the actual date the vehicle was built. Compare the Door Tag to the vehicle VIN plate (and owner documents) to the one under the hood (65-67) or on the dash (68-73) to determine if the plate is indeed the original door tag. It’s important to check the authenticity as the door tag or warranty plate may not be the same one that originally came on the car.
